Calgary police tactical team members stand guard outside the Foothill General Hospital after reports of several people who were shot at a Muslim cemetery.

CALGARY - Since the possibility of mass shootings, by ethnic terrorists or anti-ethnic armed bigots, has become a reality throughout the West, Calgary’s police, fire and emergency medical services are co-operating on plans to be prepared to deal with them.

This involves, among other things, agreement on “tactical protocols” co-ordinating the efforts of police, fire and EMS, and the purchase of bullet-proof body armour for fire fighters as well as police.

With the total order potentially being around 500 pieces, the fire department is set to obtain about 40.
